Differentiation
Due to the adaptive nature of this WebQuest, differentiation can quickly and easily occur to meet the needs of all learners. Let's look more specifically at the differentiation:
In addition, this WebQuest was designed to be accessible to a diverse audience. The text content of the WebQuest is also available in audio format. All directions, information, and resources can be produced audibly by click on the "play sound" icon found on each page. Several of the messages and directions were also produced in video format to increase engagement and appeal to a wider audience.
- Any component of this WebQuest can be completed in partners or small groups. This would appeal to students learning English as a second language or to students that struggle with independent completion of tasks.
- Students can also be provided graphic organizers to help organize, comprehend, and retain the information gained in the WebQuest (additional graphic organizers available under "Additional Resources" Tab).
- The time frame of tasks can be modified for students to work at a faster or slower pace than outlined on the daily pages.
- Increase rigor of daily tasks by adding situational complexity: Example: For Paul Revere comic strip/story board (Day 1), require students to include geographical elements in addition to 3 significant events. Or, for the Paul Revere symbolic logo (Day 3), students can include 3 symbolic elements within their design.
